new weight loss plan

1 Corinthians 10:31
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

This is in relation to how the church in corinth was being insensitive to the members of the church that couldn't afford food and to the people that didn't get there right away and didn't get food becuase it had been eaten already. But I think it's a good weight loss plan. Very pro-active. "God, if I eat this, will it glorify you? Didn't think so..put the cookie down."

There's this song by Frou Frou called Let Go and the chorus is "so let go, let go, there's beauty in the breakdown". It was odd that I was listening to it right as I was realizing the things I can actually do to get closer to God and really figure out who he is. Two verses that I've had memorized for years I think I'll pray to adhere to every morning now.

Joshua 24:15
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve..but as for me and my household, we will serve the lord.

Colossians 3:23-24
Whatever you do , work at it with all year heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. Since you know you will recieve an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ  you are serving.

that's a good insight about doing everything for the glory of God. for the last week or two i've been trying to imagine the cross in front of me, wherever i go in my daily life. that way whenever i make a decision, i (ideally) make it with the cross in mind. if i am tempted to sin, i try to think of how my sins contributed to Jesus's suffering. if i talk to people, the cross reminds me to glorify God with my speech and recognize that they are bought with the same blood as i am. the cross reminds me to keep my thoughts wholesome.

of course, that's the plan--and not something i have been 100% successful at. but i intend to keep at it, with your verse from Corinthians in mind.

thanks for the daily Scriptural shot-in-the-arm. :)
